East China Normal University Press, with a history of 50 years, is one of the two early-established university publishing houses in China. It is a comprehensive publishing house that mainly focuses on educational publications. Textbooks, reference books, education and psychology books, these three most important categories, together with other categories of books, such as academic works, popular readers, juvenile readers, foreign languages readers, sociology and science books and so on, constitute the solid and unique structure of its publications.
With 600 new books and about 1400 republications, the total sales of the publishing house for the year of 2006 amount to RMB 550 million yuan Nowadays it has more than 180 staff members that will make the publishing house the one of the tops in China with concerted efforts.
With great enthusiasm, flexible management, and abundant publishing resources, the publishing house has developed a sound business in recent years with more than 60 publishing partners home and abroad. Especially in the fields of education and psychology, the publishing house is one of the most important publishing centers in China, with many famous Chinese educationists and psychologists as its writers and translators. From 1998 to 2005, it bas published approximately 400 translations of academic works, textbooks, reference books and dictionaries. Meanwhile, it also has sold 112 books' rights to Japan, Korea and the areas of Taiwan and Hong Kong.
